Roe Green Badminton Club

The story so far started back in the 1960s with the formation of an over 21s group.

They met at Roe Green Methodist Church in Worsley and badminton was one of the activities they engaged in.

The church’s hall was demolished in the late sixties and replaced  by one that didn’t have the height necessary for badminton

so those who loved badminton moved across to Beesley Green Community Centre, just a few hundred yards away.

Enjoying the game so much, they entered the Manchester Badminton League and for many years had two teams competing in it.

Later years have seen us playing in the lower divisions of the Whitefield and Leigh Badminton Leagues.

You can find our current progress on other pages of this website.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly club and have long tried to maintain some of the earlier traditions. Not too many clubs still

brew up on match nights ! -  essential to make the evenings social occasions as well as competitions.

Beesley Green is  a one court venue meaning that we have been able to keep the opposition out late into the evenings.

In August 2007 we have started to also hire St Andrew’s school hall in Boothstown. We are currently

reviewing the best way to utilise our now two one court venues.

At the moment, it is Home matches on Wednesdays in Boothstown. Club Nights in Boothstown on non home match Wednesdays.

Club Nights at Beesley Green on Thursdays.

Please use ‘Contact the Club’ if you are interested in playing either socially, competitively or both.

We currently have a wide age range in our membership so you are bound to fit in somewhere.
